Walk-in Centre move to Balmoral Gardens will benefit both patients and clinicians

The Walk-in Centre, which shared a building with the Medway NHS Healthcare Centre, will see its first patients on Saturday 20 August at 8am from its new Balmoral Gardens facility.

The centre, which allows people to see a GP or a nurse without an appointment, will offer the same services run by the same team from their new premises.

Caroline Selkirk, Acountable Officer for Medway Clinical Commissioning Group, is delighted and said, “The temporary portacabin accommodation used in Canterbury Street was only ever meant to be a short-term solution but the move will offer clinicians and patients a far better location and facilities which fits in with our overall plans of providing access to the best possible quality healthcare for all patients in Medway.

“The Walk-in Centre is run by DMC Healthcare  who also provide onsite GP services.  This move will benefit both registered and unregistered patients in the Medway area and will ensure services are provided in an appropriate environment that enhances and improves patient care and the patient experience. “

The Balmoral Gardens Healthy Living Centre is a purpose-built healthcare facility located in the centre of Gillingham with an onsite pharmamcy open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 8am to 6pm on a Sunday.  The new facility is a five minute drive or a 15 to 20 minute walk from the Canterbury Street facility with public parking and easy access to public transport (bus and train) nearby.
